Advanced Training
Once you have your PPL you can take your flight training further to an advanced level. Pilots who hold the JAR-FCL PPL and meet the course minimum requirements, can add an IMC rating and or Night Qualification to their licence...

Night Qualification

This can be obtained through a structured course of flying over of a minimum 5 hours.
There are no ground examinations or flight test associated with this course.

IMC Rating
The rating is designed to give a pilot the necessary skills to return to Visual Meteorological Conditions (VMC) or to recover to an airfield without losing spatial awareness, should they inadvertently enter Instrument Meteorological Conditions (IMC).
It is important to understand that the IMC rating does not constitute a full Instrument Rating (IR), but it greatly enhances both safety and the pilot’s awareness and flying skills.
The IMC rating is not valid outside the UK.

The course for the IMC rating is a structured course of flying over a minimum of 15 hours, with one ground examination and a flight test.
2 hours can be awarded towards the grant of an IMC rating in our Elite Evolution S612 Basic Instrument Training Device (BITD).

Precision Approaches

The Instrument Landing System (ILS) is essential for commercial operations at Norwich International Airport .

Non-Precision Approaches Non-Directional Beacon (NDB) and Secondary Surveillance Radar (SSR) approaches are also published for Norwich International Airport.

Here at the Anglian Air Centre teaches the use of both types of non precision approach on the IMC rating course.
